Colour lift

Looking for a bit of colour?

I added colour to my dining table by placing these gorgeous candle holders and bright pink candles purchased from the Bo concepts Auckland store. They have a huge range of candlestick colours and loads of candle holders too.

Proud sister moment

My sister has just graduated with an Occupational Therapy degree.

Congratulations. I am so proud of you!

Tissue Pom Pom's

I have made tissue pom pom's a few times and I am about to make some more this weekend for a baby shower that I am hosting for a friend next weekend. So I thought it would be a good time to share how I make them.

I use a packet of ten sheets of paper. I like to make each one using ten sheets and I usually spread the whole pile of sheets out and cut in half or thirds depending on what space I am decorating.
Sometimes I cut the sheet into 1/3 and leave the rest as 2/3's. Then I have a big and small pom pom at the end.

I fold the sheets of paper in a concertina with folds of about two centimetres. Once it is folded to the end I squeeze it together and cut each end rounded as pictured above right.

Using a paper clip or florist wire, twist into a shape to hold the tissue together. Bend the wire to create a hook then you can hang the pom pom's easier.

Then all you need to do is to gently fan the tissue paper out.

Enjoy!

Map of my heart

I recently went home to see my Mum. She has returned from a trip to Europe and was looking for a way to display all the maps she collected while she was away.

I saw the idea on Pinterest.

Here is our version. First we had to decide which part of the map to cut.

I cut around a cardboard template and assembled each heart on the background. The hardest part was choosing which maps to use.

And the finished product.

I think it is safe to say, a very happy customer. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Now to find my own maps.

Happy Sunday!

Crafty art from cards

I love receiving cards.
For my birthday last year I was given some really cool cards and I didn't want to stick them in boxes so I framed some in bright frames.

Be silly, Be honest, Be kind.

Another place I display my cards is on a beautiful wire hanger that my friend Anna gave to me for a birthday present.

I'd love to hear what you do with all those birthday and Christmas cards?

Updating my bathroom

I am currently renting so I thought you might like to see how furniture placement and colours can change the look of a bathroom.

When we first moved in I had this black bookshelf in the bathroom because the cabinet is not very big and I thought it would be great for extra storage.

Although looking at the before and after pictures I definitely think I made the right choice when I took out the black bookshelf and started using the mirror for storage.
It brightens up the room and I have managed to find places for the things that I initially had in the bookshelf.
I needed to move the bookshelf out because I ran out of places to put all my books.

Cotton ball jar from The Importer, bookcase from The Warehouse that has cane baskets to hide things and the vases are from a garage sale.

What do you think?
